It is estimated that around 1 in 7 people (around 15% of the UK population) are neurodivergent. Whether you require assistance for neurodevelopmental diagnostics or business integration, we are here to help you achieve success. Anxiety may appear as sleep difficulties, fear of school, avoidance of social situations, or physical symptoms like headaches. Our evaluations help confirm whether an anxiety disorder is present and suggest ways forward.

This doesn’t mean we lack extensive vocabulary or the ability to use metaphors, but rather that we don’t embed hidden meanings in our speech – so consider being direct and clear.

The funding will extend the work of the National Neurodivergence Improvement Programme and support for the National Neurodivergence Team, to work with the NHS to drive improvement across Wales for a further two years to March 2027. The aim of the initial screening is to identify if you may have a neurodiversity or also known as ‘Specific Learning Differences (SpLD)’ – this term covers conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and ADHD. The below guidance aims to focus on what to expect after an initial screening or full assessment via the PSW service. While not a medical diagnosis, your assessment gives you your first roadmap, signposting you to any neurodiversity traits you may have and helping you to determine which diagnosis to pursue if needed.

If your child only has a Form 8 or you have been advised of long wait times for a diagnosis, fill out our form and complete the neurodiversity questionnaire with them. Teams with neurodivergent professionals in some roles can be 30% more productive than those without them – with the inclusion and integration of neurodivergent professionals bringing the added benefit of boosting team morale, Deloitte reports. The Welsh Government published an Autistic Spectrum Disorder Strategic Action Plan in 2016, which established new Integrated Autism Services. This was backed by a £13m investment to 2021, and a recurrent payment of £3m a year to support autism services in Wales after 2021.

The aim of the Charity is to replace the stigma around neurodiversity and promote a positive perception. Karen started AP Cymru (a registered charity) in 2009, not long after her youngest son received his autism diagnosis at just 22 months old. ​In 2006 her eldest son received his diagnosis and finally, in 2018 Karen received her own diagnosis aged 43.

The IAS have learned that they need to adapt to the needs of the clients and the increased numbers of attendees in the forums. Although the increase is a positive thing for the service, this may have increased the anxiety levels of those who were not confident enough to speak in front of others in a large group setting. Friendships can be formed if the structure is changed to help facilitate and encourage this. In the second hour of the forum, the room was split into smaller groups of people.
After the March forum, the offer was extended again and over 10 people agreed to go to Costa, including an autistic adult who had very rarely spoken in the forum and never without prompting from staff. The event was also developed with a strategic planning group, which included representatives from Welsh Government and higher education institutions, local authorities, Third-sector organisations, and supported employment schemes across Wales. Our clinicians bring not only extensive expertise but also a profound understanding of neurodiversity.

In addition to academic attainment, we recognise the importance of social connection, we offer opportunities for students with ASC to be part of a supportive social group. Disclosing your disability early allows you and the university to plan for any necessary adjustments. This helps to ensure a smoother transition into university life, minimizing any potential challenges and enabling you to fully engage with your studies from the start. Support and reasonable adjustments can then be agreed once diagnostic evidence of your disability has been provided to our team. Hearing the stories of other parents, the real struggles and real positive thoughts made us feel humbled.
