Discover Taitung: A Hidden Gem of Taiwan

After finishing the buffet, she stood at the counter waiting for the lady boss to show up. You have to come early to add dishes to the buffet, otherwise there will be no food later. The stinky tofu is delicious, and I personally love the buffet dishes.
After leaving my PR career, I'm currently exploring Asia from Taiwan and learning Chinese. Follow my journey as I will share my travel experiences, tips & tricks and cultural insights. My omnivore tasting buds quickly caught the “missing” ingredients from 台東 名產 their dishes, but I have to tell you that they tasted quite good. And the chef has made an effort to “trick” you by creatively composing vegetarian ingredients to look like animal parts. For example, a teriyaki eel is made out of tofu and seaweed .

The Luye Highland is a major center for paragliding in Taitung and Taiwan. Also, the annual Taitung International Balloon Festival attracts a large number of visitors each summer. Luye is also a good place for bicycling, best suited to riding slowly while admiring the tea  plantations and fields on either side of the road. The Ayawan Hotel is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Taitung.From the hotel, Taitung Airport is approximately 17km away. Did last round of shopping, souvenirs and sports gear, before we took the transit to airport. It is home to all the train services of Taiwan and well connected to all parts of Taiwan.
The views are phenomenal and offer stunning scenery, this part of Taiwan definitively is the most beautiful one. Going on a hot air balloon ride over the area is one of the best things to in Taitung. Jialulan Recreation Area, located less than a kilometer away, is an elevated seaside lookout adorned with several driftwood art installations.
I came here due to the recommendation of a friend in Tainan. The noodles were great, the broth was wonderfully flavored, and the owner who introduced himself to me and told me a bit about his family and made me feel very welcome! Everyone was happy there, despite the busy dining room, the atmosphere was very welcoming and the delicious food made everyone enjoy themselves. As for the food, I didn’t like it, especially the sausage. Ordered the dry rice noodles, nothing special and taste was ordinary, just enough to fill you up. Taitung Night Market is a small but diverse marketplace where visitors can find various snacks such as rice cakes, noodle soup, and cream puffs.

The owner, an American who settled in Taitung after coming to surf, has created a renowned pizza destination. Visitors often claim that the quality of the pizza rivals or even surpasses that of larger cities like Taipei or Kaohsiung. After a few nights of quick noodle soups and night market fare we wanted to properly sit down for dinner. The restaurant is in a hip pedestrian / park area with a craft market and there was even a music festival nearby. We found this place on Google maps and heard their burgers and pizza were great.
The first day will be mostly commuting and checking in to your hotels and AirBnb’s. If you are renting a car, today will be the day to do so. After that, you have the remainder of the day to explore some of the easier to get to spots before hitting up places further away the next day. The relaxed coastal city of Taitung (台東 or 臺東; Táidōng) is a highly likeable transportation hub from which travelers access Green Island, Lanyu and Taiwan's southern east coast.

市内からも徒歩圏内ですので観光の方だけではなく、台東市民の方が散歩をしたり、芝生で寝ころんだり、サイクリングを楽しんだりしています。 晴れた日には太平洋がとてもきれいに見えますので、海岸線の朝日を見ながら散歩をしてから市内の市場で朝食を食べたり、夕日を眺めながら一日の疲れをいやして夜市に行くのもおすすめです。 また大晦日にはこちらの公園で年越しライブ「跨年晩會」≒日本でいうフェスがありアーティストが歌を披露してたくさんの人たちで年越しをお祝いします。 Seaside Park is a place of relaxation for Taitung residents. It's within walking distance from the city, so not only tourists but also Taito residents enjoy walking, lying on the grass, and cycling.
Interestingly-decorated Japanese restaurant with a variety of set meals and single-order items. Each set meal came with a bowl of soup, rice, seared tuna sashimi, and small sides. Be aware that there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, where the bathrooms are located. Once you’ve rented a bike, pedal back past Guanshan Railway Station and continue until you hit Longsheng Road. Hang a left and you’ll soon pass several other bicycle-rental shops. After a few minutes, you’ll reach the starting point of the Guanshan Town Circle Bicycle Path, a 15.2-kilometer paved trail.

Another recommended studio is the Yan Pu Pottery Studio, known for its exquisite craftsmanship and original designs. Visitors can explore the studio to find distinctive ceramic pieces that reflect the local culture and creativity of Taitung. These artisanal pottery and ceramics studios not only offer beautiful souvenirs but also provide insight into the traditional art form and craftsmanship that is prevalent in Taitung. Visitors can bring home unique pieces that showcase the artistic flair and cultural heritage of the region, making them memorable mementos of their time in Taitung.
There are loads of combinations to choose from including pork and chicken cutlets served with rich curry sauce flavoured with ginger. It’s NT$150 for a large serving of meat or 130 for a small one – I went 台東 名產 with the latter. Yizhong Street was just down the road from my hostel so I ate there both nights. It reminded me of Taipei’s Shilin Market because the stands merged with the permanent takeaway cafes and bubble  tea shops with lots of them playing loud music. It was hard to know where the high street ended and the market began. Getting to Taitung Forest Park is easy with various transportation options available, including buses, taxis, and rental cars.
It was quite entertaining for me to guess the ingredients. Staying at a hot spring resort to relax at the end of your Taitung trip sounds like an excellent idea? Zhiben Hot Springs contains colorless, odorless Alkaline carbon. And that is said to be an ingredient to enhance your skin. Tiehua Music Village is lit up with miniature hot air balloon lanterns in the evening. Choose a beginner-friendly experience course or a 2-day intensive camp.
